Here’s a PDF version of the paper on the burning of Darien I presented at the Dublin Conference at Historic Deerfield in June. Any comments would be welcome. Bear in mind, though, if I ever get the time to turn this into an article, it would be quite different from the version posted here.

Colin Woodward is a historian and archivist. He is the author of Marching Masters, Slavery, Race, and the Confederate Army during the Civil War (University of Virginia Press, 2014). He is writing a second book on Johnny Cash.
